Are you an experienced Mechanical Fitter with expertise in heavy plant equipment and machinery? We’re looking for experienced plant engineers to join our Plant Operations Division, where your expertise will help keep our hire fleet running reliably across a wide range of projects.
About the Role
As an integral member of the Plant Operations team, you’ll be hands-on in inspecting, maintaining, and repairing our plant hire equipment. Your work ensures machinery is safe, reliable, and performs to the high standards our customers expect.

Your expertise is central to keeping our fleet hire-ready and performing at its best. By proactively identifying and resolving issues, you minimise downtime, maintain service reliability, and ensure customers receive dependable, high-quality equipment that meets their needs. Key Responsibilities include:
- Diagnose and troubleshoot technical issues, providing efficient and effective solutions.
- Ensure all machinery performs at optimal levels.
- Proactively identify potential issues and address them before they escalate.
- Communicate technical issues and solutions clearly to both customers and team members.
- Manage multiple tasks in a busy environment while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including parts used.
- Collaborate with team members to foster a positive and productive workplace.
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including safety checks and implementing safe work procedures.
- Escalate concerns promptly to the supervisor or plant operations manager when necessary.
- Uphold the company’s high standards and understand how excellent customer service impacts overall satisfaction.
What Will Make You a Great Fit:
We’d love to see the following skills, qualifications, and experience from our applicants:
- Relevant qualifications or certifications in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical engineering (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ, HND, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems specific to heavy plant machinery.
- Proven experience within the plant industry or a similar field.
- Excellent troubleshooting abilities with a track record of diagnosing complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Strong communication skills, capable of explaining technical problems clearly to both technical and non-technical individuals.
- Customer-oriented, with a dedication to delivering high-quality service.
- Ability to work effectively both as part of a team and independently, showing initiative and strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, maintaining attention to detail, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards.
N.B.: Applicants are expected to supply their own basic hand tools. Jarvie Plant will provide all necessary specialist tools, PPE, and branded workwear.
