Are you a hands-on technical leader ready to take charge of a dynamic generator fleet and play a key role in delivering reliable power solutions across diverse projects? We’re looking for a Lead Power Engineer to join our team and drive excellence in generator maintenance, setup, and on-site power delivery.
About the Role:
As Lead Power Engineer, you will be responsible for the diagnostics, maintenance, and commissioning of our diesel and hybrid generator fleet. Working closely with sales and operations teams, you will help plan and deliver power solutions for a range of applications, including events, construction sites, and other temporary power needs. This is a hands-on role requiring solid technical ability and practical problem-solving in the field.
How This Role Supports the Delivery of Hire Solutions:
Your expertise keeps our generator fleet reliable and ready for hire, minimising downtime and ensuring customers get dependable power solutions when they need them. Key Responsibilities include:
Generator Fleet Maintenance & Readiness
- Maintain and repair diesel and hybrid generators to ensure hire readiness.
- Diagnose faults quickly and accurately.
- Test all generator installations before dispatch and onsite.
- Ensure equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
Technical Solutions & Customer Support
- Assess customer sites with sales and operations teams.
- Recommend and configure power solutions, including synchronisation and load sharing.
- Communicate technical options to customers.
- Provide feedback to internal teams for service improvements.
Generator Setup, Installation & Commissioning
- Set up and commission generators to customer specifications.
- Conduct system tests before dispatch and onsite.
- Provide on-site technical support as needed.
Internal Collaboration & Team Development
- Assist workshop and field teams with diagnostics and setups.
- Work closely with operations and other departments.
- Mentor apprentices and junior staff.
- Share technical knowledge across the team.
Safety & Compliance
- Maintain detailed service and maintenance records.
- Identify warranty coverage and billing.
- Follow safety and legal procedures strictly.
- Keep the work environment safe and organised
What Will Make You a Great Fit:
- Previous experience in maintenance and repair of diesel and hybrid generator power systems.
- Strong expertise in fault diagnosis and resolving complex electrical and mechanical issues.
- In-depth knowledge of generator synchronisation, load-sharing, and power distribution systems.
- Excellent communication skills for clear technical explanations and effective customer interactions.
- Commitment to strict adherence to safety regulations and industry compliance standards.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop engineering teams.
