The Role of Generator Engineer:
As an experienced Generator Engineer, you will be responsible for the onsite servicing and maintenance of our fleet of generators. You will also support in the servicing and repair of our heavy plant machinery and equipment ready for hire. Your responsibilities in this role will be to:
- Professionally and effectively identify the cause of malfunctions or performance issues using diagnostic tools and techniques.
- Repair and replace of faulty parts, worn-out and damaged components
- Perform inspections to ensure the generator is operating within manufacturer specifications, and address any issues before they lead to failure.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance to prevent unexpected breakdowns
- Provide the best possible turnaround for Off Hires and offer advice and guidance on best practice to minimise downtime
- Provide guidance to customers/clients on how to operate and maintain generators to prevent future issues helping to optimise their use and reducing downtime.
- Ensure quick and efficient turnaround for generators being returned (off-hires)
- Assess returned equipment for damage or wear and report necessary repairs
- Ensure compliance with Health and Safety regulations, including safety checks, implementing safe working procedures, and escalating further concerns to supervisor/ plant operations manager
- Complete clear and concise documentation /paperwork on all job tasks
- Ensure high quality company standards and understanding the impact of great customer service.
Are you the right person for this role?
The role of Generator Engineer a skilled position, therefore the following skills/qualifications and experience is required:
- A solid understanding of mechanics, hydraulics, and electrical systems specific to the operations of generators and/or heavy plant machinery
- You will be qualified to (S)NVQ Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent (desirable)
- Be a CSCS Gold Card holder (desirable)
- Experience gained in the Plant Industry
- Excellent analytic and problem solving skills
- An effective communicator, specifically in explaining technical issues
- The ability to work in a busy environment
- Customer focused
- Being a team player is vital in this role, but you will also be able to work on your own initiative
